National Business and Human Rights Pact
On 11 December 2019, the Government adopted the second edition of the National Action Plan 'Business and Human Rights' (NAP 2). This document was drawn up by consensus among all stakeholders represented in the 'Business and Human Rights' working group and includes around 20 concrete actions to implement the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. These 20 actions include the "National Business and Human Rights Pact".
The adoption and implementation of the National Pact on Business and Human Rights formalises the partnership and joint commitment between the State and businesses to live up to their obligations under the UN Guiding Principles.
Raising awareness among businesses is a priority to provide them with the tools to understand not only the expectations in this regard but also the opportunities that compliance with the Guiding Principles can offer in terms of competitiveness and risk management, particularly reputational risk.
