Directorate for Foreign Trade and Investment Promotion

The Directorate for Foreign Trade and Investment Promotion (D8) plays a central role in fostering bilateral economic relations and enhancing Luxembourg's visibility in international markets. Its mission includes promoting Luxembourg as a prime destination for investment, innovation, and talent, while actively supporting Luxembourg-based companies in their efforts to expand globally. It coordinates and implements its international activities through a worldwide network of 'Luxembourg Trade and Invest' offices and Trade and Invest attachés. It also plans and executes economic missions and working visits abroad, working closely with a wide array of national and international partners. As a central coordination platform, the Directorate brings together key stakeholders involved in foreign trade and investment promotion.

The Foreign Fairs Service provides essential support to exporting companies by facilitating their access to collective national pavilions organised at specialist fairs and exhibitions abroad. Finally, the Export, Import and Transit Control Office is responsible for implementing and rigorously enforcing the regime governing the import, export and transit of sensitive and strategic goods, as well as certain goods of a strictly civilian nature.
