Taiwan

Taiwan consists of a main island in the East China Sea and several smaller islands in the Taiwan Strait. The de-facto capital is Taipei, which is also the country's largest city. Other major urban centers include Taichung, Tainan and Kaohsiung. With a population of 23 million, Taiwan is one of the most densely populated regions in the world. Most of the population lives along the Western coastline, while the interior of the island is mostly mountainous and covered in forests. Taiwan's economy has grown significantly in recent years and contributed substantially to the global ICT sector. The climate is subtropical with colder temperatures at higher altitudes in the inland mountains. Luxembourg maintains commercial, economic and cultural relations with Taiwan in accordance with its One China policy. The official language of Taiwan is Mandarin Chinese.
