Taiwan

Taiwan consists of a major island in the East China Sea as well AS OF several smaller islets in the Strait of Taiwan. The de-facto capital is Taipei, which constitutes its largest city as well. Other major urban centers include Taichung, Tainan and Kaohsiung. The 23 million inhabitants of Taiwan make it one of the most densely populated areas in the world. The majority of the population lives along the Western coastline, while the interior of the island is mostly mountainous and covered in forests. The economy of Taiwan has seen a major boom during recent years and contributed substantially to the ICT sector on a global scale. The climate is subtropical with colder temperatures on higher elevations up in the interior mountains. Luxembourg maintains commercial, economic and cultural ties with Taiwan in accordance with its One China Policy. The official language of Taiwan is Mandarin Chinese.
