Women, Peace and Security

Luxembourg is committed to the “Women, Peace, and Security” agenda within the framework of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 (2000). Following the successful implementation of the first national action plan (Pdf, 19.42 Mb), Luxembourg’s second national action plan, “Women, Peace, and Security,” was officially launched in March 2025.

"Women, Peace and Security" National Action Plan

Covering the period from 2025-20230, this second National Action Plan reflects a vision of a world where peace, security, human rights and sustainable development are built on the equal participation of all individuals. In line with United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 and its related resolutions, Luxembourg’s second national action plan is structured around the four key pillars of (i) participation, (ii) protection, (iii) prevention, relief and recovery and (iv) promotion.

Adapted to respond to contemporary global challenges, including climate change, the rollback of women's rights and the rise of new and emerging technologies, this second five-year plan builds on the objectives of Luxembourg's first National Action Plan. It underscores the necessity of full, equal, and meaningful participation of women in peace, security, prevention and conflict management processes, while focusing on issues such as disarmament, non-proliferation, the elimination of sexual and gender-based violence, the fight against impunity and the protection of individual rights.
